Kenya-Born Artist Hand-Carves Intricate Scenes Of Local Nature On Wood        

Kenya-born and New Zealand-based artist Gordon Pembridge has developed a lifelong  bond with nature. This connection with Mother Earth is often the main source of inspiration for his impressive wooden vessels that incorporate elements of natural history and portray colorful local wildlife. These often feature flora and fauna from his most beloved places - Africa and Oceania. Finally, Gordon forms fitting color compositions and applies them with an airbrush.

Traveling Landscapes: Miniature Ecosystems Tucked Inside Vintage Suitcases by Kathleen Vance

 

 As part of her ongoing series titled Traveling Landscapes, New York-based artist Kathleen Vance constructs entire landscapes inside of old steamer trunks and repurposed luggage. Many of the pieces incorporate real running water, soil, and living plant life to form encapsulated environments, though others are constructed from common model making materials and resin.
